THE MINIMIZATION OF CRIMINALIZATION AGAINST OUR DEMOCRATIC NATION
Why do so many people continue to behave in this manner?
Yesterday I felt the need to write about the millions in this country who are willing to give a free pass to those under investigation for criminal activities without any question of the ethics of doing so. It seems extremely short sighted to do so. Back in the day, a number of Republican Senators visited Richard Nixon to tell him he was out. One sees not a glimpse of such behavior now within the Republican congress, and it’s quite depressing to see such willful irresponsibility for the good of the country as a whole. The fact of the matter is that they are far from being loyal Americans. Regardless of where their loyalties may lie, whether to themselves, their party, donors, a radical base, or Donald Trump himself, the fate of the country is their last concern. The whole radicalized mass of MAGA are also unconcerned about the country, and are acting highly irresponsible. It is only sad to witness, and it’s very hard to let them off the hook which they grabbed so forcefully and without any questioning. So I tried to address this in my verse for today. I searched X for instances of others saying exactly what I’m saying. There are many examples of the disbelief in a former president still receiving so much support at this stage of the game. I have two images below showing such. Here is my verse.
I searched the word ‘criminality’ on X, here is what I found.
Searching for ‘Republican House’ here is what I found. The insanity involved in the defense of Trump seems to have no limits. What is going to happen to these people after Trump is found guilty of any of these four indictments against him? How long are they going to ride this wafting of smoke and mirrors? It’s astounding that grown adults will act in this manner.
Below are three older quotes which seemed to be fitting in this matter. Seems that one expects similar witnessing of similar behavior many decades ago. Such is human nature, I suppose regardless of education or potential progress in thought, it seems only to remain the same.
“The popularity of the bad man is as little to be depended on as he is himself.”
— Willet.
Andrew Willet (1562 – 4 December 1621) was an English clergyman and controversialist. A prolific writer, he is known for his anti-papal works. His views were conforming and non-separatist, and he appeared as a witness against Edward Dering before the Star-chamber. Joseph Hall (who knew him well) eulogized Willet in Noah's Dove, and Thomas Fuller modeled 'the Controversial Divine' of his Holy State on him.
“All things can lead astray those whose minds are inclined to perverseness.”
— Ovid.
Publius Ovidius Naso (21 March 43 BC – AD 17/18), known in English as Ovid), was a Roman poet who lived during the reign of Augustus. He was a younger contemporary of Virgil and Horace, with whom he is often ranked as one of the three canonical poets of Latin literature. The Imperial scholar Quintilian considered him the last of the Latin love elegists. Although Ovid enjoyed enormous popularity during his lifetime, the emperor Augustus exiled him to Tomis, the capital of the newly-organised province of Moesia, on the Black Sea, where he remained for the last nine or ten years of his life. Ovid himself attributed his banishment to a "poem and a mistake", but his reluctance to disclose specifics has resulted in much speculation among scholars.
“He that maketh repetition of his deceits, deserves to be entangled by deceits.”
— J. Ralph.
James Ralph (1705 – 24 January 1762) was an American-born English political writer, historian, reviewer, and Grub Street hack writer known for his works of history and his position in Alexander Pope's Dunciad B. His History of England in two volumes (1744–46) and The Case of the Authors by Profession of 1758 became the dominant narratives of their time…That same year, however, Ralph was in Philadelphia, working as a clerk and a part of a literary society that included Benjamin Franklin (Okie 873). In his Autobiography, Franklin recalled Ralph as a man of exquisite manners and declares, "I think I never knew a prettier talker" (quoted in Okie 874).
So that is all I have to show for my efforts in contemplation of such a puzzling conundrum. Perhaps I’ve scratched the surface a little, or perhaps not. Can I expect to see such a thing again in my lifetime? I often wonder about this for some reason. Exactly how tightly has the spider web of right wing propaganda trapped millions of our fellow Americans? It’s difficult to know, too many are comfortable within their ignorance.
